High School Chemistry Help
This is Jason Ruzek, your student's Chemistry teacher, contacting you regarding your interest in taking part in the after-school Chemistry help sessions. Thank you for responding to my survey about the matter! Your actions have provided the necessary cause to make this activity worthwhile. The majority of the interested parties have indicated that Mondays would be best, so that will be our normal day, going forward. Each session will be from 2:30 PM until 4:30 PM. My plan for this time is three fold.
- First, I would be re-covering material based on data from their work in Schoology. I would look at those areas in which the students are experiencing the most challenges, and address those areas, reiterating essential points, and providing examples with different methods and media.
- Second, and following from the first, I would be addressing individual questions and prompting students in different areas, basically, tutoring.
- Third, I would present material in advance, showing the students the logical flow of the material from what they are currently working on to what they will be working on in the following week or weeks. I would try to give them an advantage when, in the future, they encounter the material in their general classes.
My behavior and activity requirements for this time would be identical to my high standards during the school day. This group would be larger than any class, if every interested party showed up, so it will be more necessary than ever to require of the the students quiet, effective focus on the materials and activities.
The dates we have planned, all things being equal, you can see below. Please, consider planning on your availability and attendance on the following dates. Each session will be from 2:30 PM until 4:30 PM.
