College Visits

Students are allowed two excused absences to visit colleges each year. MEA is a good time to schedule a visit as many colleges have special programs going on over the break.

To set up a college visit follow the steps below.

  1. Contact the college admissions office.  Some visits can be arranged online, while others require a phone call. This varies by college. Some things to look for are special events the admissions office is planning, specific events for majors of interest, or certain days of the week that individual visits are allowed.

  2. When a date has been scheduled, the parent must contact the attendance office to excuse the student from school for the day.

  3. Review the campus visit checklist of things to pay attention to and questions to ask. https://www.ohe.state.mn.us/mPg.cfm?pageID=932

Spectrum also has college admissions representatives visit during the lunch hours. This is a great time for all students to ask questions about a specific college. Below is a calendar of the college reps that are visiting Spectrum.
