Impactful:

As a health education teacher for many years, I often talked about the skill of decision-making with my students. Of course, all of what we are and become is based on the many decisions that we’ve had the opportunity to make during the course of our lives. This begins to ring true for us and hold more significance as we enter the dreaded adolescent years.  And as we get older, if we reflect, we can truly see the impact our decisions have had on us and the results, good or bad. In hopes of helping my students recognize the importance of this skill, I also spent a significant amount of time focusing on carving one's own path. After all, if your entire life is spent trying to please others around you, it’s likely you’ll be left feeling rather unfulfilled at the end of the day.

There are two parts to my message today that I hope stick with you:

  • Make your own decisions, and more importantly;
  • make them for you, not for the sake of who others want you to be.

Following these two pieces of advice will surely lead to better decisions being made, and a more fulfilling life!
