Principal's Blog: 10/13/23

Impactful:

I’ve been an educator for 19 years. During this time, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the growth and development of countless students. While student academic progress has been at the forefront of my work throughout my career, there's a critical element when it comes to student development that I, or any educator, has no control over – the vital role parents/guardians play in their children's lives. Parents/guardians represent the unwavering pillars of support, guidance, and love that can make a world of difference in a student's well-rounded development.

I’ve used this blog in the past as a platform to encourage parents to check in with their children. Today, let’s dig a little deeper. Here are some categories I recommend you connect with your child about:

  • Emotional well-being
  • Social relationships
  • Extracurricular activities
  • Time Management
  • Future plans and goals
  • Online safety (social media identity)
  • Physical health

We all know that the high school years are a pivotal time in the life of a student. Through establishing a pattern of checking in with your child regularly, you can better assist and monitor the development of his/her whole being and help improve his/her chances of succeeding in the many facets of life that challenge us all.

Practical:

A huge thank you is in order for our Student Council Advisor, Ms. Johnson, and all of our student council student members, for their incredible efforts to help put together a fantastic homecoming week (9/25-9/29)!  Students were excited to show their school spirit dressing up in crazy wear throughout the duration of the week.  Our homecoming pep fest was full of high energy as our fall athletic teams were honored and the week’s “best dressed” prizes were handed out.  Friday night was capped off with the “almost” football game (canceled due to weather), and a very well-attended dance.  Again, thank you to all of the staff and students who helped make this year’s homecoming a success!
