Impactful:

Inquoris (Inky) Desmond Chade Johnson was a three year letterman and two year Captain on the Tennessee Volunteer's Football team from 2004-2006. In his junior year, Inky was projected as a top 30 NFL draft pick.  Unfortunately, on September 9th, 2006, he suffered a life threatening, career ending injury that paralyzed his right arm and hand.  Here is a little more on his story if you care to investigate on your own.

Inky Johnson is now one of the most sought after motivational speakers in the world due to his approach to life before, and following his accident.  One of his key messages revolves around focusing on "the process" of accomplishing our goals, rather than the product.  Finding joy in the journey is critical, as life can frequently derail our final destination, and at times, altogether change what that final product might have looked like in our minds.

Remember, enjoy "the process" (the journey).  Be proud of your victories along the way and always strive to have an open mind as to what that final product might be!

Practical:

Response to Intervention (RTI) has begun!  As you’re aware, during the first five weeks of the school year our Sting Time was devoted to grade level specific initiatives.  Thank you for your patience and work throughout that time.  With this shift  comes a significant change to our Sting TIme schedule.  Details are below:

  • Tuesday: Advisory
  • Wednesday: RTI
  • Thursday: RTI
  • Friday: RTI

Our RTI system is intended to benefit our students by providing them with re-learning opportunities and the individualized academic support they need.  It is a time in which students are selected by teachers for the purpose of intervening.  Whether it is for missing assignments, test make ups, or a data-driven reaction by the educator based upon a student's performance in their course, our goal with our RTI program is to be responsive to the student’s needs.

Please note that all students, including students with release PERKS, are eligible to be selected by teachers during this time.  Any student who is rostered is expected to attend their scheduled RTI session(s).
