Principal's Blog: 3/4/22

Greetings Spectrum Families,

Impactful:

In the “impactful” section of this week's post, I want to focus on something that has started to have a positive impact on the way I approach my work and life over the past few years.  The credit here goes to Spectrum Middle School’s Principal, and my close friend, Greg Heinecke.  A few years ago Greg introduced the idea of “Big Rocks” as we were in what I remember as our second year working together on Spectrum’s administrative team.  I couldn’t find where the idea originated from but I do believe that Greg obtained it from author Steven Covey, who writes about it in a few of his books.

The idea behind the theory of “Big Rocks” is intended to help us prioritize the most important items in our lives, whether it is work or family related.  Honestly, the concept can and should be utilized in every facet of our lives and is intended to help us reach our goals and dreams.  This borrowed blog sums it up much better than I can.  Please take a moment to read about this powerful tool!
