Greeting Spectrum Families,

Impactful:

“I’m tired.”  Quite often, this is the response I receive when I greet students each morning as they walk toward the main entrance of Spectrum High School.  I’ve heard it so many times, I’m never surprised by it anymore.  Sure, a normal part of being a teenager is staying up too late, studying, cramming for a test, hanging out for an extra 30 minutes with friends, or getting sucked into your favorite TV series… “Just one more episode.”  But the prevalence of this response is at an all time high in my opinion.  This year, I’ve found myself wondering more about the exhaustion that seems to be plaguing our students.

A quick online search and guess what I found?  Yep, cell phones.  So, rather than waste your time with more of what I have to say about it, please take a look at this resource.  It not only provides some great information that explains the issue, but it also gives some great tips on how to set some limits so your teen doesn’t end up exhausted.

Practical:

A huge thank you to our Student Council Advisor, Ms. Pickar, and all of our student council members, for their incredible efforts to help put together a fantastic homecoming week!  Students were excited to show their school spirit dressing up in crazy wear throughout the duration of the week.  Our homecoming pep fest was full of high energy as our fall athletic teams were honored and there were a few pies thrown too.  Friday night was capped off with the football game, which was a win, and a very well-attended dance.  Again, thank you to all of the staff and students who helped make this year’s homecoming one of the best yet in Spectrum’s history!
