Spectrum Daily 3-4-2021

SPECTRUM HIGH SCHOOL

  • Spectrum students, It is great to have you back! As we transition to one step closer to "normal", we want to take a moment to address something very important.  The topic of masks and face coverings can sometimes be a tricky one.  However, in our current model of education and as a public school, we are required by the Governor's Executive order to ensure all staff members and students comply with the mask mandate included in the state's "Safe Learning Plan".  You have chosen to join us here on campus for in-person learning, and for that, we are thrilled.  This also means you have chosen to wear your mask or face covering correctly and consistently each day you are on campus.

We want to thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter.  If you have any questions, please feel free to stop down and see either Mr. Leland or Mr. Skog with questions

  • Registration for the 2021-2022 school year is now open. Be sure to fill out both the Registration Planning Worksheet and the Registration page in Infinite Campus. The registration window is open through March 16th. If there are classes with applications, the applications are found on the School Counseling website and are due on March 16th. Reach out to your counselor with any questions.

  • If you are planning on taking a C@SH class next year, be sure to stop by the College and Career Center or check your email to pick up a C@SH Participation Agreement. This agreement must be completed each year in order to take C@SH classes, so be sure to complete this by March 16 in order to be registered for classes. You can turn in your form to the CCC or by email to Ms. Scott or Mr. Mayes.

  • Students!  Mark your calendars for Prom on May 1st.  Spectrum's prom is tentatively planned for this date.  Any students interested in helping with the Prom committee should sign up on the sheet outside Ms. Johnson's classroom.

  • Attention all baseball players in grades 7 through 12. Out of season baseball practice are now happening. See team captains Ben Bergley or Thomas DeBoer if you have any questions.

  • The NOISE News crew is looking for 8th grade-11th grade students who are interested in joining Broadcast Journalism next year.  If you have an interest in creating videos, writing, speaking, editing, or camera work, we need you!  No experience is necessary- you will learn and become a part of a great crew!  Applications can be found on the high school counseling page OR by scanning the QR code on Mrs. Chrest's door.  Contact Mrs. Chrest with any questions!

  • Attention students: The Spectrum National Honor Society is coordinating a March Madness themed food drive and they need your help to bring in food for the CAER food shelf! The drive will be organized as a bracket style competition between advisories. Advisories will be paired against each other each week, and the advisory that brings in the most non-perishable food items each week will move on! The bracket will be posted in the commons and the winning advisory class will win a prize. Additionally, for each 5 items a student personally brings in, they will receive a lotto ticket to be entered into a grand prize drawing. Any questions can be directed to Mr. Hyde or any Spectrum NHS member.

  • Attention Student Drivers….just a quick reminder when accessing parking at the high school and 7-8th grade middle school, each building is a one way.  Please make sure you adhere to this one way direction so that you don’t get in an accident or cause one.  See Mr. Skog or Mrs. Bondy with questions.

  • The SPRING SPORTS MEETING will be held on Monday, March 15.  All prospective players in grades 7-12 along with one parent must attend.  Meetings will be held in-person with COVID safety precautions (masks and social distancing required).  The Spring Sports Meeting is required for players and also provides a great opportunity to meet the coaches and learn about the season to determine if the sport is right for you.  Please limit attendance to one parent only.  Spring sports will begin on March 29 (which is also Spring break).  You may be pre-excused during Spring break with coach permission.  The link to register is now open.  You must still attend the Spring Sports Meeting if you pre-register.
