Spectrum Daily 9-11-2020

SPECTRUM HIGH SCHOOL

  • Lifetouch Studios will be on site to photograph student pictures for those who were unable to do so in August. Due to the continued COVID-19 pandemic and the requirement to be compliant with the 50% building capacity mandate, a specific appointment time will need to be booked – one for each student. Please note: This Picture Make-up Day is taking place on Monday, September 14, 2020, which is a distance learning day for all students. All pictures, regardless of grade, will be taken on the stage of the high school building. Younger students and those who do not yet drive will need to make arrangements for transportation.

See the District News on website for more details on scheduling your appointment.

  • Be sure to review the Student Mask Requirements found on the school website. We recognize that there are a variety of opinions on and feelings associated with students wearing a face mask or face shield. We also recognize that it's not comfortable or easy to do so. Our focus is on doing what is necessary for students to be back in school and for Spectrum to be able to continue offering our hybrid program (and eventually have everyone back on campus together). As a public school, this means we all need to do our part to follow the guidance from the Minnesota Department of Health. We thank all of our students and families in advance for ensuring students' masks or shields meet the necessary qualifications defined in Spectrum's Student Face Covering Requirements.

  • Students in 10th and 11th grades may sign up to take the PSAT/NMSQT exam on October 14, 2020.  The registration form is found in your School Counseling Schoology course under Form Dropbox. Please fill in your NAME when you complete the form and submit it electronically via the dropbox. Forms will now be accepted through Tuesday, September 15. This deadline is firm and final.

  • Reminder: On Monday we again resume our Advisory check-ins at 10:00 am. Please be sure you have the proper link and are ready to log in prior to the start time. Bring any questions or concerns to your Advisor.

  • Please note that students will NOT be allowed to charge their chromebooks in the IT tech office during the school day this year. Remember to charge your chromebooks at home so that they are ready for use each day during your class schedule.

  • Lunch Expectations and Guidelines:

  1. Please adhere to social distancing guidelines when in the lunchroom. This includes when waiting in line for your food, waiting to use a microwave, and when seated at the tables.

  2. When students are not seated in the lunchroom, they are required to wear a mask at all times.  This includes when they use the microwaves, dump their trash, or are standing in line for their food.

  3. Students are only allowed to sit at lunch table spots that are free of a "Do Not Sit Here" sticker placed on them (4 persons per table).

  4. As always, please be sure to clean up after yourself.  Students throwing their own trash away will limit exposure to lunchroom staff.

  • Restroom Expectations and Guidelines:

  1. Restrooms have a max capacity of 5 persons. Please wait outside of the restroom until someone exits if the limit has been reached.

  2. Please do your best to social distance when in the restroom with others.

  3. Please be sure to wash your hands thoroughly after restroom use.

  4. Students may have additional opportunities to utilize restrooms during class periods.

  • Routines: We are looking forward to getting into some routines in the next couple of weeks. Be sure to communicate any concerns, questions, or challenges so you are successful this year.

  • Trainings: Please be sure to complete all necessary trainings and work that your Advisor has been highlighting, especially the Alice Training. See Mr. Heinecke or Mr. Mills with any questions or concerns. Safety is our top priority, physically, mentally, and emotionally.

  • Be sure to review the Student Mask Requirements found on the school website. • Chromebooks:  For Tuesday-Wednesday or Thursday-Friday students, be sure that you are in the habit of bringing your Chromebook home each night, charging it, and bringing it back to school the next day.

  • First quarter announcements will be on the District Daily Announcements page. Please be sure to check them out daily, including the monitors when on campus.

  • Arrival, passing time, and Dismissal: When arriving at school, please go directly to your locker and then first hour or to a classroom that is close to your first hour. To follow social-distancing guidelines, we request that you are not in the halls. When it is passing time, please go directly to your next hour rather than the restroom or locker. We request that you take care of those needs during class time to start the year. Finally, at the end of the day, please quickly pick up all the materials that you might need at home from your locker, and head outside to the buses or your ride. No groups should be congregating, especially inside the schools.

  • Breaks: Following the Student Mask Requirements, we will do our best to provide you with some breaks throughout the day. Be respectful and responsible with this, and all will work out just fine.
