The 2009 boys varsity soccer season was a tale of two halves of the season. To begin, there was the change of two schools coming together on the sports field for the first time. The first few weeks of the season were spent trying to get to know one another and figure out how to work together effectively as a team. Unfortunately, before we had had the chance to figure each other out fully and get to know our strengths and weaknesses, our season started. Being thrown into the fire like that made for a rough start and some painful losses. In fact, we saw more losses in the first part of the season than wins. We were all frustrated especially since some of the losses were close. We went back to the drawing board mid season and decided to make a bold change: we changed our set up on the field, moving to a three man front line and a three man mid field, losing our defensive sweeper position in the process. Becuase of this, and also because we had gotten to know each other better, we saw nothing but wins in the second half of the season. We ended up with a winning record, and are proud of what we accomplished.
